July 8, 2020
36 Latham lawyers named to latest directory of the foremost legal practitioners in the competition space.

Latham & Watkins repeated its record-setting showing in the annual Who’s Who Legal: Competition’s ranking of the world’s top antitrust practitioners, earning recognition for 36 partners, counsel and associates across the US and Europe. Each year, Who’s Who Legal compiles its “comprehensive guide to the leading competition and state aid lawyers and economists around the world” via direct recommendations from clients and peers, as well as through its own in-depth research.

Reflecting the broad geographic footprint and extensive capabilities for which the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice is renowned, the latest edition of Who’s Who Legal: Competition includes attorneys from ten Latham offices across five countries, and who specialize in the most critical antitrust disciplines: merger control, abuse of dominance cases, cartel investigations, state aid matters and high-stakes antitrust litigation.

The following were honored in this year’s Competition guide:

Who’s Who Legal also named the following to their Future Leaders guide, which showcases the top competition practitioners worldwide aged 45 or under: partners Jason Cruise, Adrien Giraud, Sebastian Max Hauser, Belinda Lee, David Little, and Farrell Malone as well as counsel Rita Motta, Tomas Nilsson, and Mathilde Saltiel; and associates Anthemis Economou and John Wileur. Former associate Alessio Aresu was also ranked.

The directory’s Thought Leaders guide, which highlights competition lawyers who are “worthy of special mention owing not only to their vast expertise and experience advising on some of the world’s most significant and cutting-edge legal matters, but also their ability to innovate, inspire, and go above and beyond to deliver for their clients,” honored partners Luca Crocco, Michael Egge, Michael Esser, Jacques-Philippe Gunther, Lars Kjølbye, Niall Lynch, Elizabeth Prewitt, Amanda Reeves, Sven Völcker, Daniel Wall, and Margaret Zwisler (retired, now of counsel). Partner Elisabetta Righini was also recognized for her work in the State Aid Thought Leaders category.

Sven Völcker was also given the additional designation of Global Elite Thought Leader, an individual “who received the highest number of nominations from peers, corporate counsel and other markets sources this year.” According to Who’s Who Legal, Sven is among the “truly outstanding practitioners and the very best in their field.”
