Sharon Lau is a partner in the Singapore office and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. She is a former Vice Chair of the firm’s Global Corporate Department and a member of the firm’s Capital Markets, M&A, and Private Equity Practices. Sharon advises both issuers and underwriters in global securities offerings, including IPOs, REIT offerings, and high-yield debt offerings. She also regularly advises private equity sponsors, corporates, and financial investors on cross-border M&A transactions as well as on pre-IPO, growth capital, venture capital financings, and joint venture transactions.

Sharon is recognized as a leading lawyer for capital markets in Singapore and Indonesia by Chambers Asia-Pacific. She is also noted by The Legal 500 for Singapore capital markets and Singapore corporate and M&A.

  • Black Spade Acquisition II Co, a SPAC sponsored by an affiliate of Black Spade Capital Limited, on its US$150 million listing on Nasdaq
  • KKR and TPG on PropertyGuru Group’s US$1.1 billion proposed take-private acquisition by EQT Private Capital Asia
  • Johor Plantations on its US$156 million IPO on the Bursa Malaysia
  • ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, a leading data center colocation services provider, on its SGD1.75 billion (approximately US$1.3 billion) investment from global investment firm KKR (through its Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors II Fund), and Singtel, Asia’s leading communications technology group. The transaction marks the largest digital infrastructure investment in Southeast Asia to date in 2024
  • TPG on the:
    • Sale of all its shares in Singapore Life Holdings Pte Ltd (Singlife), to one of Singlife’s substantial shareholders, Sumitomo Life Insurance Company
    • Transaction, as part of a consortium comprising TPG, Singapore Life (SingLife), Sumitomo Life Insurance Company, and others, to combine SingLife with Aviva Singapore — which, with a combined valuation of SGD3.2 billion, marks one of the largest mergers in the insurance sector in Southeast Asia and the largest in Singapore
    • Acquisition and sale of a 50% stake in Myanmar Distillery, a Myanmar-based company involved in manufacturing alcoholic beverages
  • HLT Healthcare, a joint venture created by TPG Capital and Hong Leong, on the acquisition of Columbia Asia Healthcare, a Malaysia-based healthcare company that operates 17 hospitals and a clinic across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam
  • VinFast Auto, a leading Vietnamese automotive manufacturer, on the business combination with Black Spade Acquisition Co., a special purpose acquisition company
  • Fullerton Healthcare Corporation Limited on:
    • Its merger to create Fullerton Health; the transaction involved an equity injection by RRJ Capital and a senior loan totaling SGD390 million
