Laura Lange is an associate in the Düsseldorf office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the global Antitrust & Competition Practice. She focuses on EU and German competition law, as well as foreign direct investment (FDI) control.

Laura represents clients before competition authorities around the world (including the European Commission (EC) and the German Federal Cartel Office (FCO)), as well as international and national courts (including the European Court of Justice and the German Federal Court of Justice).

Her expertise encompasses a wide range of competition law matters, in particular antitrust investigations and litigation, as well as coordinating complex cross-border transactions both in relation to merger control and foreign investment. Her experience spans across various sectors, including digital markets, technology, and healthcare.

Prior to joining Latham as an associate, Laura worked as a legal trainee for the firm’s Antitrust & Competition Practice in New York. She also worked for the Federal Chancellery in the department for foreign trade law, and for the Hamburg prosecutor’s office in the department for white-collar crime and competition law. Laura currently serves as a member of the firm’s Recruiting Committee.

  • A global technology company in an investigation by the FCO regarding the client’s paramount significance for competition across markets decision of the German FCO
  • An international payment provider in its defense against civil cartel follow-on damage claims before German courts, following the EC investigation into multilateral interchange fees

  • Skydance Media on its merger with Paramount to form “Skydance Paramount Corporation” at an enterprise value of approximately US$28 billion
  • Amphenol on its US$10.5 billion acquisition of CommScope’s connectivity and cable business
  • Carlyle in its US$3.8 billion acquisition of Baxter International Inc.’s kidney care segment, Vantive
  • Apollo Global Management on its US$3.6 billion acquisition of Barnes Group Inc. 
  • Cadence on its €2.7 billion acquisition of Hexagon’s design and engineering business 
  • Silver Lake on its US$8.75 billion acquisition of Intel’s chip business Altera
