John Daywalt is an associate in the Houston office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Practices. 

He represents private equity sponsors, their portfolio companies, and other public and private companies in a variety of complex transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts, minority and preferred equity investments, joint ventures, and general corporate matters.

He currently serves on the firm's Training and Career Enhancement (TACE) Committee.

Before practicing law, he was the legislative director for a member of the Texas Legislature. He also served as a paratrooper in the US military and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
