William A. Reed advises public companies, private investment firms and their portfolio companies on all aspects of antitrust law, including antitrust risk analysis of mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, pre-merger notification clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act (HSR), regulatory compliance counseling and Second Request investigations before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and US Department of Justice (DOJ).

Will’s clients come from a wide range of industries, including software, technology, media and entertainment, healthcare and life sciences, transportation, industrials, and financial services.

He currently serves as the Young Lawyer Representative on the Distribution and Franchising Committee of the American Bar AssociationA’s Antitrust Law Section.

Will earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School where he was an Executive Editor of the Columbia Journal of Law and the Arts. He also externed for a judge in the Western District of Washington and the Antitrust Division of the New York State Office of the Attorney General.

Before joining Latham, he was an associate at another global law firm.

  • The Special Committee of Soho House’s Board of Directors on the company’s US$2.7 billion take-private transaction*
  • UnitedHealth Group in settlement negotiations relating to its proposed US$3.3 billion acquisition of Amedisys*
  • Catalent, Inc. in its US$475 million acquisition of Metrics Contract Services*
  • Private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies on numerous high-value transactions involving cybersecurity, enterprise software, and consumer software*
