Elyn Xing leads Latham’s investment funds team in Asia, advising private fund sponsors, investors, and joint venture participants on a range of transactions involving both traditional and alternative investment vehicles. 

Elyn draws on an intricate understanding of global investment structures and trends to guide sponsors — from first-time fund managers and strategic corporates to leading institutional asset managers and sovereign wealth funds — through every stage of their highest-stakes matters involving:

Elyn’s extensive international experience and deep ties to the Asian market help her bridge business cultures and practices. She brings a strategic, commercial perspective to the most complex fundraising and investment challenges, regularly leading clients through multiple fundraises and transactions. 

Complementing her commercial work, she chairs the Stanford Law School Alumni Association’s Singapore chapter and is active in the region’s private equity and growth capital communities.

  • Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), together with Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ), has launched IJ Hybrid Capital Solution Fund I, L.P., with a target size of US$100 million, which will be jointly managed by the two institutions to offer hybrid capital solutions for Indonesian corporates
  • A large corporation on the formation of a US$2 billion private equity fund with third party capital to pursue opportunities adjacent to its core strategy*
  • YF Capital on multiple fundraisings, including on the:
    • Formation of a co-investment fund with aggregate commitments for a buyout transaction in Japan
    • Establishment of YF Capital Fund IV, a US$2.5+ billion buyout fund*

  • Morgan Stanley on multiple fundraisings, including on the:

  • A consortium led by Starwood Capital Group, Sixth Street, and SSW Partners has proposed a US$7.1 billion take-private of ESR Group Limited by way of a scheme of arrangement from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, representing the largest privatization from the HKEX since 2021
  • Ares Management Corporation on the US$3.7 billion acquisition of GCP International, the international business (excluding operations in Greater China) of GLP Capital Partners, an alternative asset manager (including matters related to Japan real estate funds due diligence) 
  • British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI), as part of a global leading infrastructure investors consortium led by Macquarie Asset Management, has raised ¥150 billion to ¥300 billion (US$1-2 billion) in funds for the sale and leaseback of a portion of Rakuten Mobile’s mobile network assets, a transaction that was awarded Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year at the Infrastructure Investor Awards 2024
