Monica Calce is an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins.
Monica practices primarily in the firm’s Economic Sanctions & Export Controls and CFIUS & US National Security practices.
She counsels private and public companies on compliance and enforcement issues concerning US international trade controls, including economic sanctions regulations administered and enforced by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and US export controls. Monica also assists companies in navigating the process of securing national security clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). In addition, she advises on white collar internal investigations and risk assessments, develops compliance policies and procedures, and conducts due diligence in connection with mergers and acquisitions and other transactions.
Monica maintains an active pro bono practice, counseling international nongovernmental organizations on navigating regulatory requirements impacting the delivery of humanitarian aid, including the application of US sanctions and counterterrorism laws and regulations.
Monica earned her JD and LLM in International Comparative Law from the Duke University School of Law. While in law school, Monica was president of the Duke Student Bar Association, served as the senior executive editor of the Duke Journal of Comparative & International Law, and participated in the Duke University School of Law’s Children’s Law Clinic.
