Latham & Watkins Advises GIP on Combination of Power Generation Assets of Saavi Energia With Grupo Mexico’s

Grupo México, S.A.B. de C.V., a leading Mexican conglomerate in the mining, transportation, and infrastructure sectors, announces that, through its infrastructure division, it has completed the transaction to combine its power generation assets with Saavi Energía to create a leading private power generator in Mexico alongside Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). As a result of the transaction, Grupo México will own 70% of the new consortium, while GIP will retain a 30% ownership interest. The closing of the transaction creates a diversified power generation platform consisting of 14 strategically located facilities in high-demand regions across Mexico, with a combined installed capacity of 4,510 MW, as well as a development pipeline of approximately 5,000 MW.

Latham previously advised GIP on its original acquisition of Saavi Energía.
