Matthias Hohmann is an associate in Latham & Watkins’ Frankfurt office and a member of the Restructuring Practice.

Matthias advises German and international creditors, investors, companies, management, shareholders, and insolvency administrators in connection with:

  • Financial restructurings (in-court and out-of-court)
  • Domestic and cross-border financing matters
  • Operational corporate restructurings
  • Acquisition of distressed companies, restructuring, rescue financing, or refinancing transactions

Matthias has studied law with a focus on European economic law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Fribourg (Switzerland). Subsequently, he completed his practical legal training at the Regional Court of Heidelberg, with seats in the antitrust practice of a German law firm in Stuttgart and at the German Federal Department of the Interior in Berlin. 

Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Matthias worked as an associate in the finance division of a major international law firm in Frankfurt.

Matthias’s recent experience includes advising:

  • Uniper SE on sustainability-linked syndicated credit facilities totalling €3 billion for refinancing existing credit facilities*
  • Automotive Cells Company (ACC) on the €4.4 billion project financing for EV battery gigafactories in Germany, France, and Italy*
  • The sponsors on the €2.8 billion project financing of the NeuConnect subsea inter-connector project between England and Germany*
  • Glennmont Partners of Nuveen on the acquisition of a 50% stake in Ørsted's Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm, a transaction valued at approximately €1.2 billion*
