Haifan (Mark) Hu advises clients on private equity transactions, public and private M&A, and joint ventures. He also represents sponsors and emerging companies in connection with financings of all stages and advises on other general corporate and commercial matters.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Hu was an associate at a leading international law firm.

Mr. Hu’s transactional experience includes representing:

  • Loscam (Greater China) Holdings Limited and its affiliates in its US$132.2 million acquisition of CHEP China, an operator of pallet and automotive pooling operations in mainland China and Hong Kong
  • A Thai conglomerate, on its proposed significant PIPE investment into a Hong Kong-listed SOE engaging in the development and management of solar power plants and other renewable energy projects
  • A leading China-based private equity firm, on its formation of a strategic partnership with the founder of a US-listed company, with a view to creating a preeminent renewable energy solutions provider in the APAC emerging markets
  • MBK Partners Fund V, L.P. on the US$950 million acquisition of ocean parks located across China from Hong Kong-listed hospitality group Haichang Ocean Park Holdings Ltd.
  • The independent directors of Alibaba Group Holding Limited, the largest shareholder in Ant Group, in connection with Ant Group’s proposed initial public offerings on the Science and Technology Innovation Board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited*
  • The independent directors of Alibaba Group Holding Limited in connection with Alibaba’s acquisition of a 33% stake of Ant Financial, operator of China’s biggest online payment platform by market share*
  • Ally Bridge Group in its participation as a co-lead investor in a US$108 million equity financing of Mainstay Medical Holdings plc, a medical device company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland*
