Latham & Watkins Named 2025 Global Law Firm of the Year by Private Debt Investor
Latham & Watkins has been named 2025 Global Law Firm of the Year — Transactions in Private Debt Investor (PDI)’s annual awards, “which celebrate the managers, institutional investors, and advisers changing the face of this dynamic asset class.” Latham was named Americas Law Firm of the Year — Transactions in 2024, Global Law Firm of the Year — Transactions in 2023, and Europe Law Firm of the Year — Transactions in 2022, demonstrating the firm’s prowess in private credit across jurisdictions.
In a profile about Latham’s achievements in 2025, PDI spotlighted that Latham advised dozens of private capital providers and investment banks in multiple financings — including direct lending, hybrid capital, syndicated lending, and high-yield debt — to support Walgreens’ US$23.7 billion acquisition by Sycamore, one of the largest LBOs of 2025 and the second-largest healthcare LBO in history. The publication also featured Latham’s representation of Blackstone Credit & Insurance in providing a new US$2 billion first-out/last-out term loan facility for cloud storage platform Dropbox, representing “one of the largest-ever private credit loans to a public company.”
Latham was a pioneer in the industry, guiding the growth of private credit and hybrid capital from the earliest term sheets to the massive deal flow today. The firm represents virtually all of the top 50 firms on the PDI 200, the publication’s annual ranking of the leading fundraisers in private debt.
Ranked Band 1/Tier 1 for Private Credit in both Chambers USA and Legal 500, Latham leads all other firms in the global private credit and hybrid capital market. The firm ranked #1 across 9fin, Octus, and KBRA DLD’s FY 2025 direct lending/private credit league tables — the three leading sources tracking direct lending activity. According to 9fin, Latham advised on 466 private credit transactions in the US and Europe — double the second-ranked firm and more than the second- and third-ranked firms combined.
In addition to this recognition from PDI, Latham is a finalist for Law Firm of the Year — Transactions in Alternative Credit Investor’s 2026 North America Awards.
