Latham & Watkins has again led Bloomberg’s rankings of law firms helping public companies defend against shareholder activism campaigns in the first half of 2025, according to new data.
Latham has been ranked as the #2 legal advisor — both in the US and globally — by total number of company defense engagements in Bloomberg’s Global Activism League Tables for H1 2025. Latham was also recognized as the #1 legal advisor in Europe for having advised on the greatest number of company defense engagements in the region.
Bloomberg additionally ranked Latham’s Shareholder Activism & Takeover Defense Practice as the:
- #1 Defense Advisor to high market-vap companies (US$5-10 billion) — both in the US and globally
- #1 Global Defense Advisor in Healthcare
- #1 Global Defense Advisor in Materials
Overall, Latham advised companies on 20 activist engagements with shareholder stakes totaling US$2.7 billion, in addition to advising a number of companies on short seller defense in H1 2025.
