Latham & Watkins Advises Airbus Ventures on Investment in Quantum Systems

Corporate team represents venture capital investor in the Series C funding round.

Latham & Watkins LLP has advised venture capital investor Airbus Ventures on its investment in Quantum Systems, a leading provider of AI-powered aerial intelligence systems for defense, emergency services, and industry.

Quantum Systems successfully completed a Series C funding round worth €160 million, led by Balderton Capital, with participation from Hensoldt, Airbus Defense and Space, Bullhound Capital, and LP&E AG, as well as existing investors including HV Capital, Project A, Peter Thiel, DTCP, Omnes Capital, Airbus Ventures, Porsche SE, and Notion.

This funding round increases the total capital raised by Quantum Systems to €310 million, aimed at accelerating global expansion, scaling production, and advancing the company’s autonomous drone systems, software, and AI capabilities.

In the context of the new financing round, Quantum Systems is valued at over US$1 billion. In 2025, it marks the first time that a German start-up surpasses this significant benchmark and achieves "unicorn" status.

Latham & Watkins also advised Airbus Ventures in the prior funding rounds.

The Latham team was led by Munich corporate partner Rainer Traugott and Munich associate Jeremias Bura, with Munich associate Manuel Schmutzler, and Düsseldorf associate Alexander Belk.
