Latham Scoops Multiple Honors at The Deal Awards

The firm earns seven award wins and 11 finalist recognitions across deal, industry sector, and individual lawyer categories. 

Latham & Watkins’ counsel on market-leading corporate and finance transactions has earned the firm and its lawyers multiple recognitions in The Deal Awards 2022, which celebrate “the elite advisors and service providers who power the deal economy.”

The firm’s strong showing was highlighted by seven award wins in the following categories:

  • Private Equity Deal of the Year – Latham advised the consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital Group in the £4.25 billion acquisition of Chelsea Football Club with a multidisciplinary deal team led by London corporate partners Ed Barnett and Sam Newhouse
  • Outstanding Deals of the Year – Latham was honored for advising:
  • Most Outstanding Debt Financing of the Year – A Latham team led by New York partners Stelios Saffos and Peter Sluka and counsel Michael Saliba advised the credit funds and other alternative lenders on the financing for the US$16.5 billion acquisition of Citrix Systems by Vista Equity Partners
  • Law Firm of the Year in the Energy & Industrials sector
  • Most Outstanding Dealmaker of the Year – Bay Area corporate partner Tad Freese, who led several of the past year’s most high-profile transactions for clients including Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Slack Technologies, and Tower Semiconductor

Dealmaker of the Year: Middle Market – New York corporate partner David Beller, who advises on a broad range of M&A transactions, with a particular focus on significant leveraged buyout transactions for private equity sponsors

Debtor Counsel of the Year – Los Angeles partner Jeff Bjork, Global Vice Chair of the Restructuring & Special Situations Practice, who represents public and private companies, creditors, and investors in all aspects of restructuring

The Deal Awards were presented on September 29 at a ceremony in New York.
