Three Partners Again Named Top Women in Dealmaking

The Deal honors Alex Kelly, Caroline Reckler, and Rachel Sheridan for their exceptional professional achievements in M&A, restructuring, and private equity while maintaining strong client relationships and leadership in and out of the boardroom. 

Partners Alex Kelly, Caroline Reckler, and Rachel Sheridan have again been named to The Deal’s Top Women in Dealmaking list for 2022 in the M&A, restructuring, and private equity categories, respectively. The list was comprised based on months of research to identify prominent women in the legal profession who display excellence in their fields and impact the dealmaking community by advising on the most important transactions over the prior year.

Alex Kelly, Global Vice Chair of Latham’s Private Equity Practice, represents private equity firms, financial institutions, asset managers and other public and private companies in corporate transactions across a wide range of industry sectors, including financial services/asset management, infrastructure, consumer retail and technology. In the past year, she advised Antin Infrastructure Partners in its acquisition of Origis Energy, a renewable energy platform, Ares Management Corporation in its acquisition of Black Creek, a real estate asset manager, BC Partners in an investment in Advantage Capital Holdings, an insurance and reinsurance platform, GCM Grosvenor in its acquisition of ReSource Waste Services, a waste processor, HPS Investment Partners in its sale of CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective, a craft beer and hard seltzer company, to Monster Beverage Corporation, and L’Oréal in its acquisition of Youth to the People, a California-based skincare company.

Caroline Reckler, a member of the firm’s Restructuring & Special Situations Practice, represents public and private companies in financial distress and purchasers of distressed companies. She regularly leads clients through complex matters to successful outcomes. Among her notable work in the past year is advising Huachen Energy Co., Ltd. — one of the largest privately-owned power generating companies in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). A cross-border team led the successful restructuring of its New York law-governed US$500 million senior notes through a PRC bankruptcy reorganization proceeding coupled with a consent solicitation exercise and the first-ever Chapter 15 recognition of a PRC reorganization plan in the United States. She also recently represented Nine Point Energy Holdings, Inc. in the sale of its Williston Basin assets in one of the premier oil and gas basins in the United States for US$250 million. The purchase was effectuated through a Chapter 11 Section 363 process and was approved by the Bankruptcy Court. Additionally, Reckler serves as Chair of the firm's Women Enriching Business (WEB) Committee and Chair of the Chicago Finance Department. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and she has served as the firm’s Chicago office recruiting partner.

Rachel Sheridan, a member of the firm’s Private Equity and Capital Markets Practices, represents private equity firms and portfolio companies in sophisticated buyout, acquisition, and exit financing transactions. She also focuses on capital markets transactions, including public and private securities offerings, securities regulation, company representation, and general corporate matters. Sheridan’s more recent work includes representing; One Rock in the US$4.3 billion acquisition from Nestle of its North American water business and Ginkgo Bioworks in its US$16.7 billion merger with Soaring Eagle Acquisition Corp., a SPAC. She also advised on the high-profile IPO of Sportradar, a global provider of sports betting and sports entertainment products and services, and she advised several other companies that went public via a combination with a SPAC, after raising investment from private equity, growth capital and/or venture capital firms, including Talkspace, OpenDoor, Embark Trucks, and Starry.
