Corporate Team Again Earns Top Honors in California

The Recorder
Firm wins Corporate Governance and Cross-Border M&A categories, and partner Julian Kleindorfer is named a leading adviser.

In another demonstration of the breadth of Latham’s advice to clients in transactional matters, the firm has again garnered multiple recognitions in the recurring “Corporate Department of the Year in California” feature published by The Recorder, a news service of American Lawyer Media. This year, the firm earned top honors for Corporate Governance and for Cross-Border M&A, and Los Angeles partner Julian Kleindorfer was named a “Trusted Adviser.”

The Recorder’s corporate awards honor “firms whose California lawyers worked on the biggest, most complex and trendsetting deals this past year.” In Corporate Governance, that involved advising certain clients in proxy fights, shareholder activism campaigns, and governance issues related to mergers and acquisitions. In Cross-Border M&A, the firm was called out for advising on sophisticated, multi-billion dollar global transactions including representations of Allergan in the $40.5-billion sale of its generic drug business to Israel's Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, semiconductor industry leader Broadcom in its $5.9-billion acquisition of Brocade, and Caesars Interactive Entertainment in the $4.4 billion-sale of its social and mobile games business.

Kleindorfer, the global co-Chair of the firm’s REIT industry group, was honored for his transactional work advising real estate, hospitality, and gaming companies – particularly the recent representation of Digital Realty Trust in a $7.6-billion merger with DuPont Fabros Technology that created the second-largest data center real estate investment trust in the United States.

Last year, Latham was named the top overall Corporate Department in California as well as “Global M&A Firm of the Year” (now called “Cross-Border M&A”), as detailed here.
