Andrew Galdes is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the Export Controls, Economic Sanctions & Customs Practice within the firm's Litigation & Trial Department.
Mr. Galdes primarily focuses on compliance and enforcement issues involving US international trade laws and regulations. Mr. Galdes has helped clients conduct internal investigations into their compliance with US international trade controls, including economic sanctions regulations administered by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and US export controls such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). He also assists clients who are facing regulatory, congressional, and other government investigations and enforcement actions. Further, Mr. Galdes helps clients who are considering proposed transactions and business relationships, through securing governmental approvals related to US international controls, such as authorizations from OFAC, and conducting due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate or financial transactions.
