Greg Rodgers Named Finance, Banking & Capital Markets Trailblazer

Greg Rodgers, a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and member of the Capital Markets Practice, was named to The National Law Journal's (NLJ) inaugural list of Finance, Banking & Capital Markets Trailblazers, which recognizes legal professionals who are agents of change in their practice area. Rodgers was honored for his contributions over his career, including innovations in high yield bonds and equity-linked products, and for pioneering the direct listing approach to becoming a public company. Rodgers led the large Latham team that represented Spotify in its 2018 historic direct listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), as well as the team that represented the financial advisors in the second high-profile direct listing, that of Slack, which listed on the NYSE this year.

Rodgers told the NLJ that “Spotify came to us with the idea of reinventing the IPO with a more market-based pricing mechanism. In a nutshell, that involves listing existing securities without offering new securities and pricing them via the stock exchange free market.”

The NLJ said that the Spotify and Slack direct listings “have been widely viewed as huge successes.”
