Nilam Faqhir is an associate in the Finance Department at the Orange County office of Latham & Watkins.

Nilam represents banks, direct lenders, corporate borrowers, and other financial institutions in a wide range of transactional matters. She also works on complex debt finance transactions, representing borrowers in various capacities.

She has experience structuring, negotiating, and documenting various financial transactions, including second lien, subordinated, and unsecured credit facilities, leveraged acquisition financing, and cross-border financings.

Nilam maintains an active pro bono practice, representing individuals from Afghanistan seeking asylum, and victims of domestic violence in partnership with Casa Cornelia and Community Legal Services.

Prior to joining Latham full-time and while attending law school, Nilam taught a pre-law course on Constitutional Law and International Law at UC Berkeley. Additionally, she was a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team, which competes in various negotiation competitions. Nilam distinguished herself by winning the Tulane Professional Basketball Negotiation Competition in New Orleans, outperforming 43 other teams in a simulated free agency negotiation involving real NBA players. Her responsibilities included pitching a rookie player's contract extension and negotiating contracts for NBA players, which required specialized knowledge of the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement.
