Dr. Markus Welzenbach is an associate in the Frankfurt office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice. He focuses on EU and German competition law.

Mr. Welzenbach represents international companies before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office in a wide range of competition law matters, in particular with regards to antitrust investigations, litigation, regulatory aspects, and merger control. He advises clients in a number of complex and high-profile merger control proceedings. 

Prior to joining Latham as an associate, Mr. Welzenbach worked as a research associate and  law clerk in the antitrust practice groups of other leading international law firms in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. During his legal clerkship, Mr. Welzenbach worked for the Merger Case Support and Policy Unit of the Directorate General for Competition at the European Commission in Brussels.
