Mario A. Richards

Mario Richards represents private capital sponsors on the full spectrum of their formation, investment, and operational activities across a range of strategies.

Mario draws on sophisticated experience across multiple industries and asset classes to advise clients on their formation, global fundraising, capital deployment, and operating activities for private funds, including:

• Real estate funds
• Infrastructure funds
• Venture funds
• Energy funds
• Credit funds
• Buyout funds
• Co-investment funds

His experience includes:

• Raising private investment funds and co-investment vehicles, both in the US and internationally
• Internal sponsor arrangements and governance
• Portfolio company acquisitions and divestitures, and management equity arrangements
• Advising on regulatory compliance matters
• GP-led secondaries and other liquidity solutions

He also maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes the representation of nonprofits and foundations with respect to establishing impact funds and accessing tax credits.

Mario has served as a lecturer on business law at Johns Hopkins University and Duke University School of Law.
