Maddie Merkle is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins.

Maddie represents private equity funds, private equity portfolio companies, and other public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and other corporate matters.

She primarily advises clients on domestic and cross-border transactional matters, including acquisitions and divestitures, controlling and minority investments, internal reorganizations, and other strategic transactions across a variety of industries.

Maddie maintains an active pro bono practice, including working with the Legal Counsel for the Elderly to draft powers of attorney and wills for low-income seniors. She also volunteers at the D.C. Bar Small Business Clinic, where she advises local businesses on their corporate legal issues.

Maddie attended Duke University School of Law, where she served on the executive board of the Business Law Society and was a member of the Women Law Students Association.

Prior to joining Latham full-time, Maddie was a summer associate in the Washington, D.C. office.
