Kevin Shang is a finance associate in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Restructuring & Special Situations Practice.

Kevin advises companies in out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 proceedings, including prepackaged chapter 11 cases, debtor-in-possession financings, and bankruptcy litigation matters.

Kevin received his JD from UCLA School of Law, where he served as co-editor-in-chief of the UCLA Criminal Justice Law Review.

Kevin’s experience includes advising:

  • MOD Pizza, a 500+ restaurant pizza chain, in its out-of-court merger with Elite Restaurant Group
  • JOANN, a leading national retailer of sewing, arts, and crafts, in its prepackaged chapter 11 restructuring of over US$1 billion of funded debt
  • Barretts Minerals, a minerals company, on its chapter 11 proceeding to manage its talc-related litigation liabilities, resulting in a successful Section 363 sale
  • Starry Group Holdings, an internet service provider network, in its chapter 11 restructuring
  • Imerys Talc America, a mining company with North American talc operations that filed chapter 11, on managing its talc-related personal injury litigation and pursuing a Section 524(g)/105(a) channeling injunction
