    Profile

    Josephine Macintosh is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice.

    Josephine advises on a wide range of international competition and regulatory matters, including:

    • Merger control (often encompassing cross-jurisdictional parallel reviews involving the US Department of Justice / US Federal Trade Commission, the European Commission, the CMA, and other national authorities)
    • Antitrust investigations
    • Market studies and investigations
    • Competition law advice and compliance
    • Foreign investment control

    Josephine’s practice spans multiple sectors and industries, including technology, life sciences and pharmaceuticals, fashion, consumer goods, industrials, and telecoms

    Josephine advises on pro bono matters with a particular focus on consumer enforcement and human rights. She has previously advised RightsDD, a tech platform for human rights compliance, and acted for the charity Lotus Flower and Yazidi survivors in seeking reparations, including submissions to the International Criminal Court.

    Josephine has served on the Future Leaders Council of the World Wide Web Foundation and on the board of a human rights campaigning organization. 

    Josephine is currently on an in-house client secondment with Anglo American.

    Josephine’s experience includes advising: 

    • Microsoft on securing CMA Phase 1 unconditional merger clearance of its high-profile hiring of former employees of Inflection.ai and entry into related agreement
    • American Airlines in relation to the CMA’s investigation of its Atlantic Joint Business with British Airways
    • FIS on the merger control aspects of its US$13.5 billion acquisition of Global Payments’ Issuer Solutions business, and of its US$6.6 billion disposal of its stake in Worldpay 
    • Omnicom on obtaining regulatory clearances in 18 jurisdictions globally for its acquisition of Interpublic Group, a provider of global advertising and marketing services
    • Seismic, a Permira portfolio company, on its acquisition of Highspot
    • Farfetch on the expansion of its luxury new retail partnership, alongside Alabbar, with an agreement for Farfetch to acquire a 47.5% stake in YOOX Net-a-Porter (YNAP) and for Richemont and YNAP to each adopt Farfetch Platform Solutions
    • Fashion company Tapestry on merger control aspects in the planned US$8.5 billion acquisition of Capri Holdings
    • GCP Applied Technologies on obtaining global antitrust and FDI clearances for its US$2.3 billion acquisition by Saint-Gobain
    • AMD on merger control aspects for its acquisition of ZT Systems, a provider of AI infrastructure for hyperscale computing companies 
    • The Carlyle Group on obtaining global antitrust clearance for its acquisition of Theramex, one of the largest specialty pharma platforms dedicated to women and their health, from CVC
    • Onex Corporation on its acquisition of Convex Group Limited, a Bermuda-based specialty property and casualty (re)insurer
    • NVIDIA Corporation on its planned US$40 billion acquisition of Arm Limited
    • Virgin Media on its 50:50 joint venture in the UK with O2*
    • A private equity company on the acquisition of a fashion retailer*
    • A chemicals company on its planned acquisition by another chemicals business*
    • A technology company on its acquisition of various printing businesses*
