Clarence Cheong is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Data & Technology Transactions Practice and Privacy & Cyber Interdisciplinary Group.

Clarence advises clients across all market sectors on data protection, privacy, and security matters, particularly in relation to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK data protection regime.

Clarence has experience advising on an array of technology and commercial issues including:

  • A leading China-headquartered internet and technology company on global privacy compliance, with a focus on the GDPR in connection with a number of its key products, services, and platforms
  • A global conglomerate on a ransomware incident impacting employees, customers and suppliers across the EU, North America, and APAC
  • A veterinary care business on its group-wide GDPR uplift project
  • A major European telecommunications provider on EU privacy compliance, particularly in relation to data security and global data transfers
  • A Middle-East investment fund on contracting with IT and telecoms providers in relation to a mega construction project
  • Tripledot Studios, a mobile games studio, on its acquisition of mobile games studio assets from AppLovin, a mobile technology company
  • Various clients on commercial contracts, data privacy, and intellectual property matters throughout the life cycle of M&A, private equity, and venture capital investments, from conducting due diligence to integration
