Isabel Yu is an associate in the Singapore office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Finance Department.

Ms. Yu’s practice focuses on complex, cross-border project development and finance matters. She also has experience in a range of corporate and finance transactions, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, cross-border bilateral, syndicated, and acquisition financings.

Ms. Yu maintains an active pro bono practice, representing individuals seeking asylum and nonprofit organizations in conducting regional research relating to gender-based violence and other topics in Asia, as well as in drafting jurisdictional legal handbooks.

Ms. Yu received her JD from Georgetown University Law Center. Concurrently with her studies, she also served as President of the Georgetown Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, where she represented and advocated for the interests of all AAPI students studying at Georgetown University Law Center. Ms. Yu also served on the executive board of the Georgetown Journal of International Law

Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Yu spent time as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Grantee teaching English to middle and high school students in South Korea. 

Ms. Yu serves on the firm’s First Generation Professionals affinity group and on the sub-committee of the firm’s Women Lawyers Group.

Ms. Yu’s experience includes advising:

  • PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited and its subsidiary NatureWorks Asia Pacific Limited in relation to a financing to be extended by Krungthai Bank
  • JBIC, other ECAs and commercial bank lenders on the post-completion matters in relation to the US$701 million project financing of the 98.4 MW Rantau Dedap Geothermal Power Project in South Sumatra, Indonesia. This project is one of the pioneer new generation geothermal power projects developed under Indonesia’s updated geothermal regulations and the Fast Track 2 program. This transaction was awarded “Geothermal Deal of the Year” at the IJGlobal Asia Pacific Awards
  • MIND ID on its acquisition of an increased shareholding in PT Vale, an Indonesia-based nickel mining and processing company
  • Adani Group on its acquisition of Holcim’s stake in Ambuja Cements and ACC, two India-based cement companies. This transaction was awarded “Best of South Asia Deal” at the FinanceAsia Achievement Awards 2022 and “M&A Deal of the Year 2022” by India Business Law Journal
  • The underwriters in Tata Technologies’ Initial Public Offering of up to 95.71 million shares on the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and Bombay Stock Exchange Limited
  • A global beauty incubator and brand accelerator on its acquisition of an e-commerce company in southeast Asia
