Franz Ranero advises clients on a broad spectrum of complex structured capital markets and financing transactions.
Franz draws on extensive high-level experience in structured capital markets, finance, and products to guide clients through matters involving:
- Bespoke fund and asset-backed financing, whether in capital markets, structured bank lending, or derivatives form
- Regulatory (including regulatory capital) driven structures
Franz is an established leader in collateralized loan obligation (CLO) markets in both Europe and the US, having advised on a significant proportion of all European CLOs brought to market since the financial crisis. Franz also advises sponsors, asset managers, and financial institutions on a range of credit, fund, and equity-linked products, repackaging platforms, and other derivative and structured securities.
Franz regularly represents sponsors and financial institutions on providing leverage to direct lending, mid-market, and other private capital fund strategies, contributing to the development of key market participants’ product offerings in this space. He also helps major financial institutions establish secured funding platforms, facilitating credit, and liquidity backed by diverse asset classes.
Complementing his commercial work, Franz maintains a robust pro bono practice focused on social finance and impact investing. He serves as a trustee and director of Access, a major UK social investment foundation, where he is Chair of their blended finance investment committee and a member of their endowment investment committee.
Before joining Latham, Franz practiced for 25 years (18 as a partner) at another international law firm.
