Dominic Atwell-Harris is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department, Financial Institutions Group, and the Capital Markets, Derivatives, and Structured Finance Practices.

 

Dominic has extensive transactional and advisory experience advising buy-side and sell-side clients on derivatives-based hedging, acquisition, and financing strategies, with a focus on strategic equity derivatives and structured equity financing, including in respect of:

  • Accelerated stake-build transactions as well as funded and unfunded collars
  • Variable prepaid forwards 
  • Total return swaps and construction of synthetic long and short positions
  • Monetisation of existing stakes
  • Strategic disposals
  • Securities borrowing and lending (SBL) transactions
  • Shari’ah-compliant derivatives and SBL transactions
  • Margin loans over listed and unlisted shares
  • Share buy-back transactions

Prior to joining the firm, Dominic spent time as a senior associate at a Magic Circle firm in London, as well as practicing in Australia’s leading derivatives law firm.

Dominic has also spent time on secondment with a US investment bank’s Strategic Equity Solutions desk and pairs technical expertise with an inside perspective on banks’ approaches to strategic equity.

Dominic’s recent experience includes advising: 

  • A global investment bank on equity hedging solutions provided to an institutional client
  • A family office on building synthetic exposure to credit-linked notes
  • A Middle Eastern corporate on Shari’ah compliant stock lending arrangements 
  • A global investment bank on a structured forward referencing a European-listed issuer
  • ISLA on its Middle East initiatives
