Andrew Klokiw is a corporate associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins. Andrew’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and strategic corporate transactions, with a particular emphasis on clients in the sports, sports-adjacent, and entertainment industries.

He has experience representing a broad range of clients, including both private and public companies, in executing mergers, joint ventures, co-investments, strategic acquisitions/divestitures, restructuring transactions, and general corporate matters (including corporate governance), among other types of matters.

Andrew is actively involved in the sports legal community, including previously having served as the Secretary of the Corporate/Transactional Subcommittee of the NYC Bar’s Sports Law Committee and further as a member of the Sports Lawyers Association.

He earned his JD in 2020 from The University of Texas School of Law, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Texas Law Review, worked for the Texas Law Admissions Program, and founded the school’s club soccer team, the Legal Seagulls. Before Texas Law, he spent four years with Citibank’s Treasury & Trade Solutions division in New York and earned his BA in 2013 from Boston College.

  • Gatemore Capital Management on a strategic investment into a portfolio company, GSE Worldwide, a leader in athlete talent management and sports marketing partnerships, by BC Partners Credit*
  • Outside counsel for the Atlanta Hawks NBA franchise, including advising on the franchise’s first investment from an institutional investor, its mixed-use real estate development, and certain governance matters*
  • A special committee of the Board of Trustees of Diversified Healthcare Trust (NASDAQ: DHC) on DHC’s aborted acquisition by Office Properties Income Trust (NASDAQ: OPI)*
  • Multinational athletic apparel retailer in multiple transactions, including sale and licensing of Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay footprint and strategic partnership with integrated fitness provider*
  • A major FIFA World Cup sponsor on certain sponsorship issues for the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Qatar, and renewal of the client’s long-held global sponsorship rights for 2023-2026 World Cup cycle*
  • A strategic investor in Westrock Coffee Company (NASDAQ: WEST) on WESTs de-SPAC business combination transaction, securities filings, and certain other governance matters*
  • A global real estate development firm on its acquisition of a US-based cold chain solutions provider, acquired as part of a build-out of a comprehensive cold storage warehouse platform*
  • Major League Baseball on its US$900 million sale of its 15% interest in BAMTech to Disney*
