Latham & Watkins Advises Vital Energy in Midland Basin Acquisition

A Houston-based team represented the independent energy company focused on oil and natural gas properties in the Permian Basin of West Texas.
Vital Energy, Inc. (NYSE: VTLE) has completed its US$210 million cash and stock acquisition of the assets of Driftwood Energy Operating, LLC, inclusive of all leasehold interests and hedges. The transaction was announced on February 14, 2023.
Latham & Watkins LLP represented Vital Energy in the transaction with a corporate deal team led by partners Stephen Szalkowski and John Greer, with associates Cesar Leyva, Robert Cunningham, Jordan Armstrong, and Christina Schrantz. Partner Jim Cole, with associate Dylan White, advised on tax matters, and partner Matthew Jones, with associate Max Fin, advised on financing matters.
