Latham Advises PTTEP on Investment in Lang Lebah and B14 Natural Gas Fields
Latham and Watkins has advised PTTEP, on the signing of agreements together with TotalEnergies, KUFPEC, and PETRONAS Carigali, for the joint investment in, and joint development of, the Lang Lebah and B14 natural gas fields off the coast of Sarawak, offshore East Malaysia. The Lang Lebah field represents the largest gas discovery in PTTEP’s history. The Lang Lebah and B14 joint development is expected to unlock more than 6.5 trillion cubic feet of gas resources to supply the existing Malaysia LNG liquefaction plant.
Completion of the transactions is subject to approval from Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM).
The Latham team was led by Singapore counsel Rob Thompson and partner James Clayton-Payne, with counsel Penelope Davey, Tokyo associate Alexander Ross, and Singapore associates Shi Cheng Chong and Hui-Yan Chew. Advice was also provided on tax matters by London counsel Amy Watkins.
