Arrival of Lydia Torne further strengthens the firm’s global healthcare and life sciences capabilities.

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Lydia Torne will join the firm’s London office as a partner in the Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice. Torne specializes in intellectual property transactions, including licensing, collaborations, joint ventures, and consortium agreements, as well as other transactions involving the commercialization or monetization of IP for life sciences, healthcare, and digital health companies. Her expertise also extends to regulatory compliance matters, including product classification, interactions with healthcare professionals, clinical trials (including data protection issues), market access, supply chain requirements, marketing, and pharmacovigilance.

“Lydia is a distinguished practitioner whose ambition and deep sector knowledge align perfectly with our own ambitious goals,” said Ed Barnett, Office Managing Partner of Latham’s London office. “Her expertise not only enhances our ability to meet the complex needs of our international clients but also positions us to seize new opportunities and expand our market share as we continue to build our platform.”

“Lydia is a pivotal addition to our team at a time when demand for sophisticated life sciences representation is at an all-time high,” said Robbie McLaren, Global Vice Chair of Latham’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry Group, based in London. “We’ve followed her career for some time and have been consistently impressed by her exceptional skills in global licensing. Transactional activity in life sciences remains robust, with an increasingly complex mix of licensing and M&A. Lydia’s deep experience and outstanding track record further strengthen our global practice, following the recent arrival of Kate Hillier in the Bay Area.”

“The continued growth of our global practice remains a top priority as the industry undergoes significant technological and regulatory change,” added John Manthei, Global Chair of Latham’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice. “Lydia’s capabilities complement our existing strengths and position us to handle the most complex and consequential transactions in the industry. She will undoubtedly play a critical role in advancing our practice.”

“I am excited to join the firm and contribute to Latham’s renowned Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice, delivering market-leading life sciences collaborations,” said Lydia Torne. “The firm’s commitment to innovation and excellence aligns with my own professional values, and I look forward to collaborating with my fantastic new colleagues to continue delivering exceptional service to our clients.”

Torne joins Latham from Simmons & Simmons. She holds an LLB in Law and French Law from University College London and a postgraduate diploma in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Oxford.
