Latham & Watkins Advises Banking Consortium on €1.4 Billion Green Facilities for NeXtWind
Latham & Watkins LLP has advised the lenders led by Deutsche Bank, ING, and LBBW on a €1.4 billion green loan facilities agreement for the European wind energy company NeXtWind.
The financial resources can be used particularly for the purposes of modernizing and renewing existing wind farms and for the acquisition of additional wind farms. For NeXtWind, this transaction marks another step towards achieving a European generation capacity primarily from wind power of 3 GW and establishing itself as one of the leading independent providers of renewable energy. The transaction implements the general principles for green loans.
The Latham team was led by Frankfurt finance partner Sibylle Münch, with counsel Ralph Dräger, and associates André Traute, Verena Birke, and Kate Zhu. Advice was also provided on corporate aspects by associate Pascal Wagenführ; on tax matters by Munich partner Ulf Kieker; and on capital markets matters by London counsel Delyth Hughes, with associate Nick Surry.
