Latham Advises Ontario Teachers’ on Sale of Majority Stake in Sahyadri Hospitals Group

Latham & Watkins has advised Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (Ontario Teachers’) in the sale of a majority stake in Sahyadri Hospitals Group (Sahyadri) to Manipal Hospitals. 

Ontario Teachers’ acquired a majority stake in Sahyadri in 2022 and, since then, has supported its growth into one of India’s leading regional healthcare platforms. Today, Sahyadri is one of Maharashtra’s largest hospital chains, with 11 hospitals and over 1,400 beds, delivering best-in-class healthcare to millions across the region.

Latham also advised Ontario Teachers’ on its initial investment in Sahyadri in 2022.

The Latham team was led by Singapore partners Sidharth Bhasin, Michael Rackham, and Timothy Hia, with Singapore associates Andrew Lee, Chaitrika Bellana, Elisabeth Su-Li Ong, and Rebecca Wen Pei Han, and Hong Kong associate Yun Cao. Advice was also provided on tax matters by London partner Simon Skinner, with London associate Thomas O’Malley.
