Latham Hosts Annual Financial Analysis Program for In-House Counsel

Firm’s Women Enriching Business Committee offers exclusive educational experience designed to provide foundational knowledge of financial information analysis for in-house lawyers.

Latham's Women Enriching Business (WEB) Committee recently hosted the fourth rendition of its marquee client event, the Financial Analysis Program. In partnership with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, this program seeks to create an exclusive educational experience designed to provide foundational knowledge of financial information analysis for in-house lawyers.

Led by adjunct Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Chicago Booth School of Business, Kathleen Fitzgerald, the multiday program provided an overview of corporate financial reporting, financial statement analysis, and corporate valuation, through practical, hands-on application. The course was designed to put lawyers in a position to analyze financial information and challenge financial assumptions. Participants came away with a deep understanding of corporate value creation and an enhanced ability to engage with the financial professionals in their businesses.

“We were thrilled to be joined by clients across industries, including technology and pharmaceuticals, for this event,” says Caroline Reckler, Latham & Watkins partner and Global Chair of the WEB Committee. “I hope participants came away with tools to enhance financial acumen and provide better client service — I know I did.” 

Following the program, one attendee noted, “Substantively, it was just what I was looking for to increase my comfort with financial concepts used by my internal clients on a daily basis. It was very clear that Latham had put a great deal of time, effort, and thought into this program, and tailoring it to their transactional in-house clients.”
