Latham & Watkins Assists Hyundai Motor Company in Securing CFIUS Clearance

The firm’s Washington, D.C.-based CFIUS team advised the South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer.

Hyundai Motor Company has received clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) in connection with an investment in SES Holdings Pte. Ltd., an Li-Metal battery manufacturer located in the US, China, and South Korea. CFIUS determined that there are no unresolved national security concerns with respect to the transaction.

Latham & Watkins LLP advised Hyundai Motor Company on the CFIUS clearance process, led by Washington, D.C. partner Les Carnegie and supported by associates Zachary Eddington and Sara Castiglia. The corporate deal team advising Hyundai Motor Company on its investment in SES Holding Pte. Ltd. was led by Hong Kong partner Steve Kang, with Seoul associates Regina Kim and Jee Yoon.
