Entertainment, Sports & Media Team Again Earns "Dealmakers" Recognition

Six partners honored for industry-leading transactional practices.

For the third consecutive year, six Latham partners – Joseph Calabrese, Christopher Brearton, Nancy Bruington, Kenneth DeutschRobert Haymer and Lisbeth Savill – have been honored in the 2017 Variety “Dealmakers Impact Report.” Each are members of the firm’s industry-leading Entertainment, Sports & Media (“ESM”) Practice. "Without the hard work of these execs and attorneys, the wheels of entertainment would come to a grinding halt," Variety stated in the report's introduction.

In its profile of the Latham team, Variety noted the recent cooling of a once fast-paced Chinese acquisition spree. Calabrese, Global Chair of the ESM Practice, explained “a pivot to European and other investors who have stepped into the breach” for what he sees as “continued consolidation and strategic investment in the media industries” – exemplified by Latham’s representation of Netflix in its acquisition of Scottish comic book company Millarworld this August, and its advice to completion bond company Film Finances for its June initial public offering in London.
