Michael Sturrock, Managing Partner of Latham’s Asia offices, advises clients on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Sturrock represents both issuers and underwriters in corporate financings and both buyers and sellers in public and private merger and acquisition transactions.

Mr. Sturrock has extensive experience in Asia having advised on more than 300 completed financing and mergers and acquisitions transactions in the region. He is consistently recognized as one of the region's leading lawyers for M&A and capital markets by Chambers Asia-Pacific, Legal 500, IFLR, and Who's Who Legal.

Mr. Sturrock has been representing clients in Singapore for more than 10 years, and during this time he has advised on more than 150 completed transactions, including IPOs, other equity offerings, convertible bonds, debt offerings, sec-registered deals, venture capital, and M&A deals in Singapore. His experience includes advising:

  • Temasek Holdings in its sale of shares for the initial public offering and subsequent secondary offering of Athene Holding Inc. on the NYSE

  • PT Pertamina (Persero) on updates to its US$10 billion global medium term note program and subsequent drawdowns issued pursuant to the program
  • The lead arrangers in PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk’s US$932 rights offering
  • PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk in the sale of its palm plantations and related assets to PT Sinar Mas Group
  • PT Risjadson in its US$1.18 billion sale by way of an auction of a majority stake in PT Berau Coal (Berau) to PT Recapital Advisors

  • MakeMyTrip Limited in its US$80.5 million initial public offering of shares on NASDAQ, the first US IPO by an Indian company in four years, as well as in its US$145 million follow on offering of shares on NASDAQ and a further US$126 million offering of shares on NASDAQ
  • A global business process management company in its US$255 million initial public offering of American depositary shares on the NYSE, as well as its US$113 million offering of American depositary shares on the NYSE
  • The underwriters in Infosys Technologies Limited's offer of US$1.6 billion American depositary shares on NASDAQ
  • Vedanta Resources plc in its US$1.25 billion offer of 5.5% convertible bonds due 2016, and listing of the bonds on the LSE
  • The underwriters in the establishment and ongoing updates to ICICI Bank Limited’s US$5 billion global medium term note program and subsequent drawdowns issued pursuant to the program
  • MakeMyTrip in its US$720 million acquisition of ibibo Group, an India-based company operating an e-commerce and online travel portal
  • Vedanta Resources plc in its US$8.67 billion acquisition of a majority stake in Cairn India, one of the largest M&A deals undertaken by an Indian company in recent years, as well as one of the most high profile

  • Banpu Power Public Company Limited in its THB13.6 billion initial public offering of shares on the SET
  • Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, Thailand’s largest private hospital operator, in its THB10 billion (US$311 million) zero coupon convertible bond offering
  • The underwriters in a US$290 million exchangeable bond offering by C.P. Foods Holdings Limited, a member of the Charoen Pokphand Foods Group, exchangeable into shares of CP All Public Company Limited
  • Thai Oil Public Company Limited in its US$1 billion offer of US$500 million 3.625% notes due 2023, and US$500 million 4.875% notes due 2043
  • PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited in its US$1 billion offer of 4.25% notes due 2022
