Kevin Jakopchek is a litigation and trial associate and member of Latham & Watkins’ Training & Career Enhancement (TACE) Committee.
Mr. Jakopchek represents large, publicly traded companies in a diverse array of complex commercial litigation, including the defense of consumer class actions, environmental enforcement actions brought by the Department of Justice, actions under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, and patent infringement claims.
Mr. Jakopchek has had a trial-focused practice, and he has been an active member of trial teams for multi-week “bellwether” jury trials. He has delivered opening statements and conducted direct and cross-examinations in court, and has delivered closing arguments at preparatory mock trials. He also has extensive experience as first-chair counsel in depositions and has led the briefing of numerous dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss, as well as Daubert motions and various state-court equivalents.
While at Northwestern, Mr. Jakopchek served as an articles review board member for The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology and a student intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.
