Profile
Ian Schuman, Global Chair of Latham’s Capital Markets and Public Company Representation Practices, represents issuers and underwriters in complex, high-profile equity and debt offerings, both in the United States and internationally.
Ian offers clients unique experience handling prominent capital markets transactions on behalf of globally recognized brands and major investment banks. He advises on matters involving a range of industries, with a particular focus on the consumer retail, restaurant, and technology sectors.
Ian also represents companies with respect to general corporate and securities matters.
His transactional work includes advising on:

Since 2011, Ian represented underwriters and issuers on more than 370 debt and equity offerings across various industries, including more than 80 IPOs and 90 high yield offerings. Select issuers include:
Latham’s Capital Markets team steered a number of blockbuster transactions last year, including StubHub’s US$800 million IPO and Verisure's US$4.3 billion IPO, and represented funding sources in Sycamore Partners' US$23.7 billion take-private purchase of Walgreens Boots — earning the firm a spot among the 2025 Law360 Capital Markets Practice Groups of the Year.
