Boin Cheong is an associate in the Finance Department of the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Structured Finance Practice. Ms. Cheong’s work focuses on structured finance and securitization, with particular emphasis on matters relating to asset-backed securities, including European multi-country trade receivables, loans (CLOs and direct lending), SME loans, unsecured consumer loans, auto loans, auto leases, and project finance loans.

Prior to joining Latham in 2014, Ms. Cheong trained and qualified in the London office of an international firm. During this time, Ms. Cheong completed secondments at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Moody’s Investors Service.

Ms. Cheong’s experience includes advising:

  • Rabobank in a trade receivables securitization for a multi-national company producing fertilizers, metals, and other special-purpose chemical products
  • A multi-national investment management firm in relation to a purchase of multi-jurisdictional non-performing residential mortgage loan portfolio
  • Fortress Investment Group on the provision of asset-backed finance in Finland and Poland
  • Goldman Sachs on an asset-backed loan financing for a UK FinTech lender
  • Morgan Stanley as Arranger of High Yield Bonds issued by AnaCap backed by structured credit products
  • A hedge fund manager in connection with a securitization of student loan receivables
  • The sponsor and manager of the first project finance CLO in Singapore
  • A US alternative asset management firm in its capacity as sponsor and manager of European CLOs
  • BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse, ING Bank, Banca IMI, and DNB Markets in the £300 million offering of receivables financing notes by UK cable and telecommunications company Virgin Media
  • Credit Suisse, Banca IMI, ING, and Mediobanca in the £450 million tap offering of Virgin Media’s receivables financing notes
  • Santander Consumer Bank in connection with the first publicly sold auto securitization from Scandinavia which was the first securitization deal to receive PCS label*
  • A money bank on the first capital markets financed securitization of a portfolio of fixed rate Swiss auto leases with English law governed notes being issued on the Swiss Stock Exchange*
  • The administrators and liquidators of Comet Group Limited*
  • ATP Oil & Gas on a US$1.2 billion restructuring and sale, which involved a company voluntary arrangement following US Bankruptcy Court approval*
  • A Vietnamese state-owned ship building company involving an application to the English High Court for sanction of a scheme of arrangement with certain of its creditors pursuant to a US$600 million facility*
