Arman represents clients of all sizes in complex business litigation in trial, arbitrations, and appeals, including trade secret and other intellectual property claims, breach of contract disputes, and consumer and securities class actions. Arman is well known at Latham for his experience managing complicated discovery issues, including complex forensics investigations, data recovery, spoilation claims, and sanctions motions.

Arman also maintains an active pro bono practice. Working in collaboration with the Northern California Innocence Project (NCIP), he had the honor of acting as lead associate representing Mr. Kevin Harper and securing his release from prison after he had served thirteen years of a life sentence. Committing seven years of his career to this matter, Arman was responsible for managing all aspects of this complicated and highly technical case until Mr. Harper was released.

Arman’s experience includes the representation of:

  • A cybersecurity company as defendant in a high stakes copyright District of California, where he acted as lead associate and trade secret case in the Northern District and was responsible for the day-to-day management of the case, including at trial, where he was responsible for fending of a sanctions motion based on spoilation claims, presenting an expert witness, arguing motions, including jury instructions, and also for managing post-trial matters, where he helped successfully fend off plaintiff’s request for permanent injunction, exemplary damages, and fees and costs, while successfully supporting the appellate team before the Ninth Circuit. (N.D. Cal. & 9th Cir.)
  • A large pharmaceutical company as plaintiff bringing intellectual property and related claims against a former senior executive and her new employer. Arman acted as lead associate responsible for managing all aspects of the litigation, which culminated in securing four back-to-back TRO victories in two courts across the United States in a span of less than two weeks, and concluded with a permanent injunction against defendants. (S.F. Sup. / Lake County Ill. Cir. Ct.)
  • A marketing and sales company as a plaintiff in a trade secret lawsuit against a former employee, where he acted as lead associate on the case and led the charge in coordinating discovery, arguing motions, presenting a fact witness at a full-day evidentiary hearing, securing a preliminary injunction, and acting as lead counsel at mediation where he secured a permanent consent judgment against the defendant. (S.D. Fl.)
  • A well-known technology company, which brought affirmative claims against its collaboration-partner-turned-competitor arising out of the parties’ collaboration agreement. Acted as lead associate, helped draft the complaint, defended against the motion for preliminary injunction, secured the dissolution of the Court’s previously issued ex parte temporary restraining order against our client, and handled day-to-day case management. (N.D. Cal.)
  • A general aviation company in trade secret litigation against a former business partner, where he acted as lead associate responsible for day-to-day management of the case, including by helping fend of sanctions motions, conducting forensics investigations, and preparing powerful counterclaims that resulted in a favorable resolution for the client. (W.D.N.Y & C.D. Cal.)
  • A major technology company in securing dismissal (affirmed on appeal) of fraud, UCL, unjust enrichment, and other statutory and tort claims in matter arising out of two theoretical security vulnerabilities. (N.D. Cal. & 9th Cir.)
  • A major technology company against breach of contract and breach of implied covenant claims arising out of supply agreement related to manufacturing of components. Responsible for day-to-day case management through discovery and summary judgment, which culminated in a favorable settlement. (N.D. Cal.)
  • A major technology company in defending against securities claims arising out of business partnership, resulting in a pretrial settlement lower than plaintiffs’ out-of-pocket costs. (D.N.H.)
