Two Partners Named Among Prestigious Top 100 Lawyers

Global Chair of the firm’s Entertainment, Sports & Media Practice, Joe Calabrese, and Bay Area Office Managing Partner Tad Freese have both been named among the Daily Journal’s Top 100 Lawyers in California for 2021. The annual feature by California’s legal newspaper of record recognizes attorneys “who have an impact – on an industry or on the larger society.”  

Calabrese’s profile celebrated his work representing both the International Olympic Committee and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as they dealt with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the Golden Globes, respectively. Said Calabrese, “I’ve had a front-row seat to the collision of the pandemic and the entertainment and sports worlds.”

Freese’s profile highlighted his work representing “some of the most innovative companies in the tech industry.” This includes advising Airbnb in its US$3.4 billion IPO in December 2020, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) on its acquisition of Xilinx in an all-stock transaction valued at US$35 billion. Freese noted, “working with new companies every day that are innovating, disrupting and creating has been very energizing and continues to be.”
