Project Development & Finance Practice Advised on Four Deal of the Year Awards

Power Finance & Risk recognized impressive, leading-edge transactions in 2019.

Latham & Watkins’ Project Development & Finance Practice advised on four Deal of the Year awards announced by Power Finance & Risk in its 17th Annual Deals and Firms of the Year Awards program. The publication honors  leading-edge deals and key players across the power and energy markets in North America.

The four accolades include:

  • Conventional Power Deal of the Year – Long Ridge Energy Terminal: Latham represented the lenders on the project financing of the construction of a 485-MW natural gas fired combined cycle power plant in Hannibal, Ohio, and the acquisition and development of certain associated natural gas production fields.
  • Project Bond Deal of the Year – GSRP Portfolio 1: Latham represented the investors in connection with in the private placement by Goldman Sachs Renewable Power Portfolio 1 of senior notes.
  • Renewable Energy Deal of the Year – Project Nitrogen: Latham represented the lenders on the project financing in connection with KKR’s convertible equity investment in NextEra Partners’ (“NEP”) portfolio of solar and wind energy projects with a combined total capacity of 1,192 MW located in North Dakota, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nevada, Michigan, Arizona and Washington, US
  • Term Loan B of the Year – West Deptford: Latham represented the sponsor, LS Power, in the term loan B refinancing of the West Deptford Energy Project, an approximately 744 MW combined cycle natural gas fired power generation facility in West Deptford, New Jersey.
