For the second time since 2018, Latham & Watkins’ Intellectual Property Litigation Practice has been named Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year as a part of Chambers USA’s annual awards program. The awards recognize legal teams for “pre-eminence in key jurisdictions in the country… [and] achievements over the past 12 months including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth, and excellence in client service.” The award comes on the heels of Latham’s recent Nationwide IP Litigation Band 1 ranking by Chambers USA 2021.
Chambers USA highlighted that Latham “continue[d] to exhibit immense talent in all areas of Intellectual Property law, as well as significant depth of expertise across the country, with sources highlighting its ‘broad bench of trial lawyers and strong geographical spread across both coasts.’” The coverage called particular attention to the firm’s “superb ability to handle cutting-edge patent disputes on behalf of household name clients from the technology and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as a host of technical copyright and trademark issues.” Chambers USA also noted that the group’s “outstanding Intellectual Property litigation prowess is perhaps best summed up by one client, who says ‘I would not hesitate to go in to battle with Latham & Watkins.’”
David Callahan, Global Chair of Latham’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, said, “We’re honored to be recognized for our market-leading status and consistent ability to achieve successful outcomes for clients in their most critical disputes. This award is a reflection of the outstanding results the team has achieved in precedent setting IP litigation across jurisdictions and the innovative work the team has done, and continues to do, as we’ve faced the numerous issues and pressures brought on over the last year.”
Latham’s IP Litigation Practice provides clients with trial-ready teams in all areas of IP law and has achieved exceptional results around the world. The practice is uniquely situated to handle cases involving all types of intellectual property claims, including in combination with related claims of antitrust, contract disputes, unfair business practices, and other causes of action.
In addition to the IP group, Latham’s Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions Practices received Law Firm of the Year recognitions in their respective categories.
