Four Latham Lawyers Named Among Top 250 Women in Litigation 2020

Mary Rose Alexander, Tara D. Elliott, Michele Johnson, and Jamie Wine were all recognized by Benchmark Litigation.

Four litigators have been named to the Top 250 Women in Litigation 2020 — Mary Rose Alexander, Tara D. Elliott, Michele Johnson, and Jamie Wine. The annual list is compiled by Benchmark Litigation, a research firm focused solely on litigation law firms and leaders. The Top 250 Women in Litigation 2020 list recognizes lawyers who “participat[ed] in some of the most impactful litigation matters in recent history as well as… earn[ed] the hard-won respect of their peers and clients.” The honorees were chosen based on “review of their recent case work, consideration how attorneys at peer legal institutions might rank them, and client feedback on their performances,” and come from the United States, Canada, and Latin America.

Mary Rose Alexander, Global Chair of Latham’s Environmental Litigation Practice and partner in the Chicago office, is a nationally recognized trial lawyer. She represents clients in complex commercial litigation involving class actions, product liability, tort, contract, environmental and energy matters, and insurance coverage. She is currently the Global Chair of the firm’s Women Enriching Business Committee, previously served as Vice Chair of the Litigation & Trial Department and the Environmental, Land & Resources Department, Chair of the Recruiting and Pro Bono Committees and was a member of the firm’s Associate Committee.

Tara D. Elliott is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office and a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice. She serves as a first-chair trial lawyer on high-profile intellectual property proceedings and commercial litigation. Elliott advises the world’s leading technology, retail, and manufacturing companies in infringement matters, corporate disputes, and appeals concerning patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and commercial contracts, among other issues.

Michele Johnson, Global Chair of Latham’s Litigation & Trial Department, and a partner in the Orange County office, is one of the most highly regarded litigators in practice today and a nationally recognized trial lawyer. She represents clients in securities, M&A, and complex commercial litigation. Throughout a career of game-changing victories, Johnson counsels her clients in the boardroom as transactions are being structured and serves as lead advocate in industry-shaping litigation. She has served on the firm's Executive, Pro Bono, Associates, and Diversity Committees.

Jamie Wine, a partner in the New York office, is an accomplished trial lawyer who has tried and arbitrated a wide variety of business, environmental, and patent cases. Most recently she won a US$666 million award for a leading Fortune 500 technology company. In addition to her trial practice, she represents clients in a variety of complex commercial and securities litigation matters, as well as SEC and other regulatory investigations. Wine recently completed a term as Global Chair of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department and prior to that she served on the firm’s Executive Committee.

This was the first year in which Benchmark Litigation honored Elliott and Wine, Alexander and Johnson have been previously recognized.
