Alfred Xue, a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and member of the Banking Practice, has been named a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal (NYLJ) as part of its annual Professional Excellence Awards. The Rising Star awards recognize the region’s most promising young lawyers who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, lead high-profile litigation or transactional work, contribute to the improvement of their institutions, and commit themselves to pro bono, charitable, and professional volunteer work.
The NYLJ recognized Alf for leading “complex financings for an exceptional roster of clients around the world.”
In the last year, Alf represented J.P. Morgan, Credit Suisse, Citibank and the other lead arrangers in connection with Panther BF Aggregator 2 LP’s US$10 billion senior secured bank facilities, senior secured asset based facilities, and senior secured and senior unsecured notes offerings in support of Brookfield Business Partners L.P.’s US$13.2 billion acquisition of the Power Solutions business of Johnson Controls. During the same period, Alf has also acted for Golub Capital, HPS Partners, KKR Capital Markets and other direct lenders in a range of unitranche financings and other direct lender transactions.
Alf also maintains an active portfolio of pro bono matters, including supervising the reviews of trial records for Texas prison inmates who qualify under the criteria set by the state’s Forensic Science Commission in support of Latham’s pro bono client organizations in Houston and Austin. He also plays a leading role on a Latham team representing a juvenile from Central America in connection with a petition for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), as part of Latham’s involvement with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND).
Alf is a member of Latham’s Opinions and Confirmations Committee for the Finance Department.
