Tim Coxon advises financial institutions, corporations, developers, and private equity firms on financing transactions, with a focus on the energy and infrastructure sector.

Dual-qualified to practice law in New York and in England and Wales, Tim helps clients navigate complex financings in the United States and internationally. His experience includes advising clients on the development, construction, and financing of power, oil and gas and infrastructure projects, with a focus on renewable energy. He also regularly handles corporate and leveraged financings for some of the world’s largest energy corporations and private equity sponsors. 

Tim’s practice includes advising on:

Tim began his legal career in the United Kingdom, where he worked for an international law firm and an international investment bank. Prior to joining Latham, Tim spent several years working for international law firms in New York. 

Tim's experience includes advising:

  • The financing parties to Tillman Infrastructure in connection with the development, construction and acquisition of communication towers located in the US. This transaction was named North American Telecom Deal of the Year by IJGlobal
  • Fatbeam, a portfolio company broadband service provider of Basalt Infrastructure Partners that owns and operates a 1,250 route mile fiber network in the western United States, in a financing for the ongoing development of its fiber networks
  • The equity sponsor in a capex and revolving credit facility for Future Fiber, a wholesale fiber-to-premises network
  • Project refinancing in connection with the Lackawana Energy Center, a 1,485MW natural-gas fired combined cycle power generation facility located in Jessup, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, US. This transaction was awarded 2023 North America Refinancing Deal of the Year – Power by IJGlobal
  • The lead arrangers and lenders in connection with the Pleasant Valley Solar project, a 200MW (ac) photovoltaic solar energy generating facility in Idaho, US
  • The lead arrangers and lenders in connection with Energy Harbor Corp, a nuclear generation company located in Ohio, US
  • The lead arrangers in connection with the refinancing of the Lordstown power plant. This transaction was named 2022 North American Refinance Power Deal of the Year by IJGlobal
  • The lead arrangers and lenders in connection with approximately US$3 billion of secured construction, holdco, and back-leveraged project financings of renewable power assets for subsidiaries of NextEra Energy*
  • The lead arrangers and lenders for a back-leveraged secured holdco financing in connection with a portfolio of tax equity financed solar and wind projects in Colorado, Maryland, and Vermont*
  • Siemens Financial Services in connection with a secured financing for the acquisition of a minority interest in the Sydney Murray Hydro Facility in Louisiana by an affiliate of Arclight Capital Partners*
  • The lead arrangers and lenders in connection with the US$680 million secured project financing for the construction, development, and operation of a 250 MW solar renewable energy project in Riverside County, California, including a government cash grant bridge loan*
  • KKR Infrastructure Fund in connection with the US$1.2 billion secured sale and leaseback financing of certain oil and gas assets in Mexico*
