Tara Tavernia represents clients in complex antitrust matters, including obtaining antitrust approvals for M&A transactions, antitrust litigation, government investigations, and compliance matters.

Ms. Tavernia’s experience includes:

  • All aspects of the merger review process, including advocacy to the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Second Request compliance, and merger remedy negotiation and compliance
  • Litigating multiple proposed transactions in federal court
  • Advising clients on FTC and DOJ conduct investigations and Civil Investigative Demands
  • Advising companies on compliance with antitrust laws in connection with both proposed transactions and their ongoing operations

Ms. Tavernia is a member of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section, where she has served as a member of the editorial board of Antitrust Magazine Online (formerly, The Antitrust Source) since 2019.

Ms. Tavernia’s representative matters include:

  • Advising on the antitrust aspects of numerous high-profile global transactions, including advocacy to the DOJ and FTC, managing Second Request compliance, coordinating global merger control filings, and negotiating consent decrees
  • Serving on a trial team defending against the DOJ’s federal court challenge to a joint venture
  • Serving on a trial team that successfully defended against a federal court challenge to a proposed telecommunications merger by a coalition of state attorneys general, and advising on all aspects of the DOJ’s review of the same transaction*
  • Advising clients on multiple recent FTC conduct investigations
