Sophia is a member of the firm's White Collar Defense & Investigations Practice and Litigation & Trial Department. She advises clients on high-stakes government and internal investigations, as well as government-facing litigation. Sophia has particular experience representing companies in the global technology, renewable energy, and healthcare sectors.
She has advised companies through various environmental enforcement matters and responses to whistleblower complaints related to potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the False Claims Act (FCA). Additionally, Sophia represents companies faced with other sensitive issues, such as responding to Civil Investigative Demands (CIDs) and investigating executive misconduct.
Sophia is also dedicated to pro bono work and serves as the firm's Los Angeles liaison for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, a nonprofit organization committed to providing equal access to justice for individuals living in poverty.
Sophia received her JD from the University of Southern California where she was elected to the Order of Arête, the highest honor accorded to graduate students. While in law school, she participated in the International Human Rights Clinic and Legislative Policy Practicum. She was also a member of the Hale Moot Court Honors Program and president of the Latinx Law Students Association. Prior to joining Latham full-time, Sophia was a summer associate in the Washington, D.C. office and an intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California in the Criminal Division.
